The Trench, Cut Off at the Waist

The Leontine | Women's Cropped Trench Jacket with Wide Lapel keeps every trench detail — a wide notch lapel, a storm flap at the shoulder, epaulettes and buckled straps at the cuff — on a body cropped square at the waist. The front is double-breasted and the shoulder drops well past the natural line. Flap pockets sit at the hip.

Familiar Details, New Proportion

Shortening a trench to the waist changes it completely while keeping everything that makes it recognisable. The dropped shoulder and boxy body stop it looking like a shrunken coat. It sits above high-waisted trousers where a full trench would cover them.

How to Wear It

Wear it over wide-leg trousers and loafers, sleeves pushed back and straps buckled. Over a long skirt it balances the length nicely.
